Seven activities (which are not games) to keep children entertained in summer

Summer is a time that invites relaxation, games without schedules, swimming in the pool ... During the course we all want to enjoy the long-awaited summer holidays, but when they finally arrive, parents begin to think that they last too long weather.

And it is not that we do not enjoy being able to spend 24 hours with our children, but sometimes they get uphill so much leisure time, they get bored of playing, they do not know what to do and they demand a constant activity that we do not know how give them. Therefore, from Babies and More we want to propose seven simple and daily activities to keep children entertained without leaving home.

Involve you in housework

All parents would love to be away from home with our children all day; Make endless fun plans, visit wonderful places, enjoy a day at the pool or beach next to them ... But it is not always possible. We also have to take time to take care of housework and the children have a very bad time.

Therefore, instead of resorting to television while we clean, we can ask them to help us, and involve them in different tasks based on their age and abilities. Not only will this keep them busy, it will make them feel useful and proud to "help mom or dad."

  • For example, ask him to help you empty the dishwasher or put the cutlery in the drawer. This will also help you to group objects, identify them with their peers or learn to count. It is a task that can be done from a very young age.

  • Offer him a suede and ask him to help you clean dust from furniture. Interestingly, this is something they love to do!

  • Ask for help with laundry and take advantage of this activity to review the colors of the garments. If they are older, they will know perfectly separate dark clothes from light ones And this will be of great help.

  • Place clean clothes in their drawers and closets. You can ask him to help you separate it in heaps, depending on the family member to whom each garment corresponds, and then store it in the drawers.

Undoubtedly, involving them in household chores is a fabulous resource that will not only entertain them, but will also help them learn and be aware of how important it is to help at home.

Homemade pastry

I can't think of a better way to fight boredom than preparing a homemade biscuit or some palmeritas of tins to take together at the time of the snack.

Pring flour, split eggs, whisk, help with the measures ... children are excellent "pinches" and will enjoy this moment immensely.

But we don't need to focus exclusively on baking, since any other salty recipe in which we believe our children can help, will do more than delighted.

Place and classify books

Asking them to put the books in their room can be a great task to wake them up, in addition, the desire to read.

If we talk about an older child who knows how to read and knows the alphabet, you can ask him to place your books in alphabetical order, for example, or classify them by author. If it is a small child, encourage him to place them on the shelf according to other criteria such as his preference, size or color of the covers.

You can take the time to clean those books that are more worn out or that you no longer read, and ask them to help you find an NGO, campaign or associations where donate them to give them a new life in the hands of other children in need.

Place and classify your toys

This project requires several different activities in which children are very willingly involved:

  • First, ask him to classify your toys according to criteria that you have periodically established. For example, separate toys by "cars", "dolls", "balls", "animals", "sizes", "colors" ...

  • Second, ask him to make a drawing that corresponds to each of the classifications made in the previous point

  • Third, help him paste those drawings into the drawers or baskets where you get used to storing toys. These drawings will act as identification stickers or posters, so that the child will quickly know where to look for a certain toy and will not have to search through several drawers or baskets until he finds it.

This classification exercise is very entertaining for them and the time to store toys and pick up your room will cost you nothing because you will continue to see it as part of the game.

Little gardeners

If you have plants or a garden at home, you can entrust your child with the task of caring for them. Water them, tear dry leaves or weeds, empty the leftover water dishes, detect if any plant is sick ... Feeling responsible for them and their care is a task they accept with great pride.

Likewise, if you have a pet, children, because of their sensitivity and dedication, are usually their best caregivers. Ask him to brush his hair, to fill the drinking fountain with water, to give him food, to check the cleanliness of his cage ...

And remember the importance of washing your hands at the end of these tasks!

Creating memories

If at home you like photography, among the many activities that we can carry out with them in this field, we recommend you to prepare with your children a photo themed mural.

Now in summer we can do it for the holidays, but also for the course that has just ended, of the first semester of the year, of that fun family excursion that you have done recently ...

Involving children in the realization of this mural is a very fun activity that you can do as a family and that will undoubtedly tear you a lot of smiles to remember the happy moments lived together.

Make the shopping list

Involving your child when making the purchase is also an excellent and complete activity They can do from a very young age. If he already knows how to write, let him take care of the list of things that are needed at home.

But if he does not know how to write yet, there is another very fun way to help you, while making crafts: get propaganda brochures from several supermarkets and ask him to cut and paste on a sheet those products that you indicate. If you are still too young to use scissors, simply ask him to mark what you tell him in the brochure.

And in the supermarket, and with the help of the list you have made together, leave your little one task of filling the shopping cart With everything you need. Back home, ask for help to take out the things you have bought and store them in the pantry.

Although all these tasks that we have shared do not have to be typical of the summer and surely there are children who perform them throughout the year, it is probably in the summer period when we get more involvement, for a simple matter of time, basically.

And if even with everything and with those we did not find an activity capable of deceiving or motivating them for a little while, remind them that experts say that getting bored is not bad, since it pushes them to create, innovate and imagine different ways to overcome that boredom. Happy and fun summer!
