Code.org launches the Code Hour initiative on December 8, 2014

More than 40 million students participated last year in the event of the Code Time (Hour of code) organized by Code.org. This year 2014 the movement wants to summon 100 million students of all ages and around the world to boost knowledge of programming. The week in which this event will be held is that of December 8-14, 2014.

In Code.org you can find resources so that all participants can program from the basics. For example there are notes and tutorials from Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and video games such as Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies. And all in more than 30 languages although anyone can sign up to translate and complete the manuals. Children can participate although it is best to enroll the school in which they are studying. The older ones can also participate although it is also preferable that the company is registered. And you just have to be one hour programming at any time of the indicated week.

Code.org is a non-profit association that aims to expand the knowledge of computer science and programming in schools, between the women and in general among all students. The initiative, led by the United States, has among its sponsors a Microsoft, Manzana, Amazon, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the College board.

I encourage all schools to be interested and to participate in this Code Hour event. For now, few initiatives appear in Spain and I hope they can grow and expand with more force as we approach the week of December.
