An Italian mother dies of cancer, but first leaves her daughter messages and gifts for the next 17 years

How far is a mother's love capable of reaching? I am sure that if we could continue alongside our children and continue to look for ways to make them happy even after we left this world, we would do so without hesitation and with an open heart.

An Italian mother recently lost the battle against cancer, but Before she died, she made sure to leave messages and gifts for her one-year-old daughter, so even if she is not physically present, she can accompany her during her first 18 years of life.

Elisa Girotto, from the province of Treviso, in northern Italy, had become the mother for the first time on August 21, 2016 of a baby named Alice. That same day, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. On the day that the most beautiful adventure begins for thousands of mothers, for Elisa a long year of examinations, treatments and operations began to try to defeat cancer.

At the end of July of this year and after knowing that the cancer had metastasized in vital organs despite all the effort that had been made, the doctors told Elisa and her husband, Alessio Vincenzotto, that he only had two months to live. "It has been the toughest test of my life"Alessio later declared for Il Gazzettino.

So they decided that there was no time to lose and they would take advantage of those two months left together as a family. Elisa and Alessio advanced their wedding, scheduled for September, and married in the following weeks.

For her part, Elisa looked for ways to continue present in her daughter's life, and spent her last weeks preparing gifts to leave Alice for the next 17 years, until she turned 18. She had bought everything online and left her specific instructions to Alessio to wrap them and deliver them to Alice at the right time.

Elisa chose dolls, educational toys and books for Alice's early years. For his 13th birthday, his first jewel. For the 14, a "secret diary." And for his 18th birthday a very special gift: a world map, in which he indicated the places he would have liked to go with Alice.

In addition to the gifts, Elisa didn't want Alice to forget her mother's voice, so she left him recordings to accompany each gift. Also left two notebooks with pages full of maternal advice for Alice to read when she grows up.

Although today Elisa is no longer next to her daughter, his love will remain present throughout time, through the gifts made with that love that only a mother is able to give, leaving a mark on the life of little Alice.
