Children's camps to lose weight?

Overweight and obesity is a worrying issue that especially affects developed countries, although it is already beginning to be present in countries where until recently, seeing an obese person was a rarity. China is still well below the rates of overweight and obesity in industrialized countries, but in recent years this problem has been greatly increased. Currently, 10% of the population of the eastern country is overweight and obese, an issue that should be monitored and tried to control, since otherwise, it will soon reach European levels.

A curious camp located on the outskirts of Beijing offers several keys for overweight or obese Chinese children to return to their proper weight. It covers children between the ages of 6 and 18 at which hosts for a month, which will undoubtedly be lived very intensely. A group of experts in nutrition, physical exercise and psychologists, are responsible for controlling the nutrition of children, verifying the physical exercises they perform and in the most serious cases helping them psychologically. Minors suffer the consequences of being overweight even if they do not show it, since they may suffer mockery from their peers, be prevented from performing certain tasks or games, etc. For this reason the presence of psychologists is very necessary.

The stay in the camp is not more than 40 days and the price to pay is quite high. We disagree with the long-term effectiveness of this camp, in 40 days you cannot perform effective and lasting work. It gives the impression that it is a place where by force it is forced to lose weight, but what will happen next?

We highlight a funny statement by Wang Xiaochun, director of the center. He tells us that these children are very capricious and spoiled by their family, which clearly shows that once the camp is over everything will return to normal and the overweight will reappear.

As we have always said, nutritional education and healthy habits established from the family unit is the most effective weapon to combat these problems. This Chinese camp to fight overweight and obesity seems like a cash out and not a responsible place to deal with a serious problem.
