Red and green guide: no to GM in infant feeding

A transgenic food is one that has been created by genetic manipulation.

Through this manipulation species of plants and animal feed are achieved that did not exist in nature in order to get plants more resistant to pests, animals that produce more or grow more and therefore obtain a greater economic benefit.

The transgenic side effects are questioned by the increase in toxicities in agriculture, genetic contamination, loss of biodiversity, development of resistance in insects and “weeds”, health risks and unwanted effects in other organisms. In fact the effects on all living beings are unpredictable and we and our children are being the guinea pigs of this great experiment.

For this reason, Greenpeace has been developing and updating the red and green guide of transgenic foods for some time so that the Spanish population knows what foods they are buying, including infant feeding, are transgenic or contain derivatives thereof and which ones are free of them.

To prepare the list, divide foods by brands and types and classify them in the green zone if they are free of transgenics and derivatives and in the red zone if they are labeled as such, if they have been found transgenic in laboratory analyzes or if the marks are not they have guaranteed Greenpeace that their products are free of them.

So we can see how three brands of children's food, Hero with all products, Nestlé, also with all its products and Danone, with Nutricia, Milupa, Dumex, Mellin, Cow & Gate and Blédinano products are on the red list for not having declared free of transgenics.

Even Bimbo and Kellogg's, responsible for the breakfasts and snacks of thousands of children and adults are in the same situation for the same reason.
