Cure for egg and milk allergy

Egg and milk allergy are the most frequent food allergies among children and the solution to the diagnosis was to eliminate them from the diet until they were tolerated again. However, the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid is implementing a new treatment that cures allergies to these foods.

It consists of artificially introducing tolerance to these foods through a desensitization pattern. This means administering small amounts of milk or egg and gradually increasing until the amount of a regular intake without adverse allergic reactions.

Evolving towards tolerance is the key to treatment that has achieved 90% success.

98 children allergic to milk and 29 children allergic to eggs have been treated with this method. They have been given in a prescribed and controlled way very small quantities of the food mixed with juices and as they were admitted these amounts rose little by little until they reached 175 or 200 cubic centimeters in one shot.

85% of children allergic to milk heal spontaneously after four years of treatment and 75% of those allergic to eggs after five years of treatment. But in this way the total tolerance of the food is reached without having to eliminate it from the diet of the little ones since we talk about the egg and the milk, two very frequent foods in the infant feeding.

The diagnosis of a food allergy significantly affects the quality of life of children. Eating out, school canteens and events as usual as children's parties become inconvenient when the child can not eat any of these foods.

Of course, a cure for egg and milk allergy It is a breakthrough in the treatment of food intolerances that are increasingly growing in Spain.
