Birthday games for big kids

After having delayed two days (I'm sure you'll know how to apologize), I return today with the series of articles on home birthday preparation. Our idea is to provide ideas to all parents who occasionally or routinely wish to "take charge" in the celebration of their children's anniversary, without resorting to external services.

Last Friday we started talking about games for young children, and today I would like to help you by contributing some ideas for provide fun for older children (from nine years old). It seems complicated, right? However, until the age of 12, the kids still accept their parents' suggestions, and certainly appreciate anything that takes them out of the routine of "fighting games," football, and discussions.

A selection of games for birthday parties

I can tell you in advance that for these ages they are very involved if riddles or riddles are used to establish "who starts", and even as the center of the activity.

Proposals for older children - from nine years old -:

Do not you know what your children play when they are over nine years old ?, Do you think it is not possible to invite them to discover games they do not know ?, I believe that you are not right, because although they do not need our presence so much, they get tired of always playing the same. In addition some ideas also give them creativity.

1.-Indoor and outdoor games

, I have thought about activities that can be done in every house, and also in larger spaces.

* Literary competition, you need several books of different thickness and a double entry table that you can draw on a sheet - the names of the players and the numbered games are reflected -. In turn (you can set the start by telling a riddle and waiting for someone to solve it, will be the player to start) the children will act as librarians. The dynamics are simple: the librarian shows the book without opening to the rest of the players, who will try to hit the number of pages that have the volume ... the one that comes closest wins.

* To the cinema drawing, you have to buy one or two rolls of five meters of kraft paper (which in turn you will cut into portions of approximately one meter), and several thick colored markers. The starting player divides the paper into four squares with the marker, and thinks of a children's movie that he liked. Then you will start drawing the least significant elements of the film in the first grid at the top left, to include more details (drawing to the right and then below) in order to facilitate "discovery", this is done while the paper is hung of a door or any other visible place. Whoever guesses the movie will be the next "director / cartoonist".

* Good memory, this is a game not suitable for the living room, but that can be practiced if you have a garage or ample room. The players are placed in a circle around the "leader" (everyone must adopt that role at some point in the game). The child who is in the center has a ball in his hands and asks questions of a certain level (on topics that they know because they are given in class or have been able to see it in the news), for example "who was the author of 'El Quijote '? ", or" what country is President Hugo Chávez from? "and how about" does anyone know what the inventor of the telephone is called? "

When sending the question, he also sends the ball and if the recipient answers correctly, he will perform the guiding functions by placing himself in the center, if he does not know the answer or he is wrong, he passes the turn to the partner on the right.

When they are older they can organize for themselves a game to play UNO, Monopoly or Catán, they may also prefer to watch a movie or play a team game with the console. But it is always very good that they have alternatives

2.-Outdoor games only:

* The handkerchief A classic among the classics: two teams, a handkerchief, lots of excitement and not a few nerves ... well I forgot the piece of chalk. A well-defined and marked space in its center with a line, two lines of output for the teams - which are pleasant about 10 meters from the center. One of the children is placed with the handkerchief in the middle line and the rest the numbers are distributed: if they have the same number of members it is not difficult, and if one of the teams has an extra player, in the other there must be a Participant who has the honor of representing two figures.

The child in the center shouts a random number and "the numbers" of each team run to try to pick up the handkerchief, the line cannot be crossed unless the opposite is to be pursued. A player is eliminated if he has not been able to hunt the one wearing the garment (or the "hunted", or both, according to the rules established at the beginning), and their partners decide who will now have their "number".

* Find the treasure, there are few games more suitable for those little heads who need to think and have adventures. It requires a large space and many clues that adults previously think and hide, each leading to the next, for example "to discover the next mystery you must look under a pineapple tree, will you find it?"

The treasure can be a large box decorated and containing mini gifts or chocolate coins, in addition if there are many children you can set up equipment and everyone looks for their surprise.

* And more: the wheelbarrow, sack race, relay or "lame leg", etc.

Another day I continue with the invitations and decoration.
