"We find it interesting to enhance listening in children." We interview Lucia Retuerto of 'Lentils for your ears'

60 minutes ago the weekly emission of Lentils for your ears has started, an internet radio for children from zero to eight years old. This is a project that began its journey in July, and in which its managers have put a lot of enthusiasm.

We wanted to present these freshly made lentils from the hand of Lucia Retuerto, one of its components. And we would like not only to read this interview, but also that you ate a spoonful of this delicious dish, with the conviction that, once you press the 'play', you will find hundreds of reasons and occasions to share everything that this offer program with your babies, or with your three-year-old kids, and even with those seven-year-old children who grow up, but still find interesting content in 'Lentils for your ears'.

The broadcast is from Monday to Friday between 10 am and 8 pm, and his grill that we will present in more detail later, includes a programming especially original, but also enjoyable, surprising and fun. By listening to this radio, children immerse themselves in a world of stories, curiosities, animals, instruments, ... that stimulate their creativity. Peques and More.- Who is behind 'Lentils for your ears'? How long have you needed for these lentils to be ready?

Lucia Retuerto.- Radio It is the imaginative medium par excellence. At the beginning of the year, we started to develop content for children. We did not want to use the structure of traditional stations, but to look for other ways to surprise, have fun and form through sound.

We were a small group of journalists when we started broadcasting our radio on July 16 Little by little, many professionals have joined the project and we currently have a wide network of collaborators, including professors, writers, musicians, storytellers and illustrators.

Why do we want to make a radio for children? because if the elders don't notice things, how can they stop listening to them! If a character is not real, how will he make any sound! If a polar bear lives in icy areas, how will it appear in the living room! Because we believe in Fantasy, that's why we decided to make a radio for children

PyM.- Tell us what you want with Lentils for your ears.

L.R.- We believe that society attaches too much importance to the visual, to the detriment of the rest of the senses. We find it interesting to enhance listening among children, we want to show that with the sounds you can create exciting universes. Above all, in Latin America, there are many stations that play with Fantasy and build amazing sound stories for children and not so children.

Throughout the broadcast we propose workshops to follow from home. We play with rolls of paper towels, cardboard boxes and newspaper papers. We want to position ourselves as a family leisure alternative.

PyM.- Why a radio for families with children?

L.R.- We find it very interesting to involve families in the sound discovery of the house. Every day we produce all kinds of sounds. When opening a drawer, when we crumple a paper or beat an egg. What in principle is a routine activity can become a fun game. We want parents and educators to use us as a tool for singing, humming or accompanying any music with the movement (dancing, riding a horse or following the rhythm with the palms).

PyM.- But if you also introduce interesting written content for dads, moms ... and kids!

L.R.- Yes, and we do it through our parent blog, and with another dedicated to children. In this way we open dialogue to learn from the experience of each home.

Magic carpets exist. The flying spoons, too. Not to mention vacuum cleaners and talkative washing machines. From 'Lentils for your ears' we want to accompany the children in the discovery of their environment. We build stories with domestic, wild and wild sounds. We propose from Monday to Friday, from 10 to 20, a broadcast with music, games and workshops to enjoy with the family

PyM.- Now I would like you to invite our readers to meet you. Tell us what are the attractions of your lentils.

L.R.- The main thread of the station is music and throughout the day we insert several lentils, which are our contents. There are lentils for all ages and tastes. All spaces have a short duration (between 5 and 10 minutes) so that attention does not decline. For example:

  • At 11h We play with musical sounds and encourage listeners to keep up with a homemade instrument.

  • At 1pm We talk about nature, how to recycle and where food comes from the plate.

  • At 2pm we pout and create stories and rhythms with different kitchen utensils.

  • At 4pm We travel to a distant country to listen to stories.

  • At 6pm We teach to invent stories and draw scenes and characters.

  • Y at 7pm we repeat the best lentils of the day.

We invite you to try these lentils and make rhythms, dance and create stories with us. You can listen to them through the computer and mobile devices Any place in the house is good to lent with us! Each morning they tell us through their social networks (Facebook and Twitter), the sound menu so that we connect to the radio when we feel like it.

So you know: it's over 'there are lentils, if you want them you take them and if you don't leave them', because your children's ears they won't want to take off these talkative, fun, musical lentils, and with those who can learn a lot.

It is your turn, it is your turn to discover them, surely you will find a content that fits the tastes of your little ones, and the parents and mothers (the teachers too, I do not forget you) It can help you to learn many interesting things. Always accompanied by a carefully chosen beautiful music.
