The Oreo company personalizes its cookies using a 3D printer

Airing, one of the Mondelez brands, has recently carried out a promotional action with a 3D printer experimental that allows customers choose your own custom Oreo cookies. In addition the printer cooks several models at the moment and as it is connected to Twitter write tweets so that followers can see and choose their own designs or know which ones are the most frequent to ask for them. Some examples can still be seen on the #eatthetweet tag created for promotion at the SXSW (South By Southwest) event in Austin, Texas.

At video You can see the operation of the 3D printer and, once the customer has chosen their two preferred flavors among the sixteen available, print these two flavors separately and place the top of the cookie. This process of cookie making lasts two minutes which I think is too much for an autonomous selling machine.

I think it's a very innovative way to encourage consume custom products, at the moment and also allow customers to live a good experience. It is also a great way to boost the advertising campaign relying on users who naturally and automatically use social networks. If companies are encouraged to exploit this type of machines there can be many opportunities so surely we will see many more marketing campaigns supported in 3D printing devices.

The company Mondelez He has developed this printers in six weeks so if he can improve the prototypes and reduce the safe time they can be put up for sale. From Markarina, Javier Guardiola wonders if we will not soon see more products such as yogurts, coffees, snacks, ice cream and many more foods that 3D printing can give a great boost. In work centers, hospitals, sports centers, airports, stations ..., where vending machines are available, it can be a good place to install this type of services that offer a fun, original and innovative experience.
