"We would be glad if Moiré contributed by giving visibility to child transsexuality" Interview with Juancho and Estefanía

Juancho Bañuelos and Estefanía Cortés are co-directors of the short film Moiré, of which we presented the trailer a few days ago, and which addresses the issue of child transsexuality within a traditional family. After knowing this project, I felt the need to expand the information a little more, and that's why I asked them to tell me through an interview.

It is brief because the objective pursued by this entry is the same as the one intended with 'Moiré': make child transsexuality a little more visible. Go ahead that I am very happy for the good reception that the short film is having, as Juancho and Estefanía tell us, will be projected shortly also outside our borders.

Peques and More.- Why about child transsexuality?

Juancho and Estefanía.- It seemed to us a subject that had been treated very little in the audiovisual medium and that is necessary to be known to break the taboo that exists around it.

PyM.- In addition to showing your work, and seeking recognition, do you pursue any specific objective related to the subject?

JyE.- We simply wanted to tell the story that interested us, and if that helps to give visibility to such an important issue as child transsexuality, we are very happy to be able to collaborate.

We have received a lot of help from LGBT associations when it comes to moving the short film, for which we are very grateful.

PyM.- To know the short film we must wait for the opportunity to see it, but why do you think we will like it?

JyE.- Because of the comments we have received so far, we think you will like it because it is a short film in which it is easy for you to feel identified with the story of one of the characters.

If this work helps to give visibility to such an important issue as child transsexuality, we are very happy to collaborate

PyM.- Childhood transsexuality is a taboo not only within families, but also in society. Did you have trouble deciding to show this issue in the short?

JyE.- The truth is that no, the basis of the script was always that, we consider it a story that should be told and we rush for it.

SHORT FILM "MOIRÉ" - TRAILER from Lemonade Productions on Vimeo.

PyM.- How was the choice of the leading actor child?

JyE.- When we started looking for Sergio's character, we were a little insecure because of the complication of finding a child to play such a delicate character, but when we met Hugo Arbués we had a crush and we didn't want to see anyone else.

He was very comfortable during filming and that helped us a lot when it came to work, He is a very free child, with great sensitivity and really professional despite his young age. We were very lucky.

PyM.- Now you are checking the acceptance you are having, are you happy?

JyE.- After the premiere at the film academy, very beautiful criticisms were published towards our work of which we are very grateful, and since April “Moiré” is moving through festivals in Spain, and soon it will begin to be screened abroad where They have already selected us at some festival.

We are going slowly but we are really happy with the road What is going on.

Before thanking Estefanía and Juancho for taking time (despite how busy Moiré will be in different places) to answer our questions, I would like to comment that the short film has been made by a Madrid audiovisual production company called 'Producciones Limonada ', which has been created by themselves. From Limonada, series, documentaries, video clips, corporate videos, short films, etc. are made..

And now, thank you very much for collaborating with us, and continue to reap success with this work of yours.
