"Your stretch marks do not define you, your scar does not define you", the importance of loving each other after childbirth

All mothers are aware when the pregnancy begins that their body is going to undergo some changes, although not all know the magnitude of them. The body will generate life and sometimes that implies that somehow mom's physique changes.

This time it was the young British Emily Marson who after giving birth twins, last December, wanted to send a message to all women to encourage them to want their postpartum figure, whatever it is. Since each stretch mark, each scar, are the marks that something precious happened in there and gave life to the best that now surrounds us.

Emily's children are currently almost four months old and her proud mother shares her day-to-day life on her social networks. Between so much happiness he has made a parenthesis, a small reflection, to explain that although his body is no longer what he was, every stretch mark or even the scar of his caesarean section, are worth it.

This message has been shared through Instagram and has quickly gone viral. The publication already has more than 1,700 likes and more than 160 comments and says so (English translation):

"Okay, this is a pretty personal post, but now, 4 months after delivery, I begin to embrace what my body has become, I have carried two precious babies for 36 weeks and I have breastfed them for 5 weeks. My pregnancy It wasn't exactly easy. These children wanted to leave soon and I was hospitalized several times due to dehydration and premature contractions. Our bodies suffer a lot, many changes and your body suffers a huge amount of damage and I am so proud of myself that I brought children so precious and I gave them food, warmth and most importantly all the love I never thought I had. With a scar that I will have for the rest of my life is a small sacrifice for a lifetime of beautiful memories with my family. they define you, your scar does NOT define you, your saggingness does NOT define you.You are amazing, you are a mother and you are the light of your baby's eyes.I wanted to share this to show the reality of our s bodies and it's okay not to be perfect because in their eyes you are exactly that. "

Okay, this is quite a personal post but I am now 4 months postpartum and beginning to embrace what my body has become, I've housed two beautiful babies for 36 weeks and breastfed for 5 weeks. My pregnancy wasn't exactly an easy ride these boys wanted to come out early and I was hospitalized a few times because of dehydration and early contractions, our bodies go through a lot, a lot of change and your body is put through an enormous amount and I am so proud of myself that I carried such beautiful children and gave them food, warmth and most importantly all the love that I never thought I had. Your stretch marks DO NOT define you, your scar DOES NOT define you, your flab DOES NOT define you. You are incredible, you are a mother and you are the light of your babies eyes. Emily's goal is to encourage us to look beyond aesthetics, to obviate those little details that can make us ashamed of our body and to love each other without more, because those marks are a sign of something as big as motherhood.

Mom's body after childbirth

The truth is that after birth the body must have a recovery, and this will be more or less slow depending on whether the baby was born vaginally or by caesarean section.

Some of the changes that the body can experience after giving birth can be:

  • Stretch marks: the truth is that sometimes even if you use a lot of cream they can appear. This will also depend on the size of the baby, the flexibility of the skin or if the pregnancy is multiple.

  • Excessive sweating

  • The gut reduces its size immediately upon leaving the baby, obviously, but it will be flaccid.

  • You will notice a change in the chest caused by the rise in milk, both in size and color.

  • You probably notice a decrease in the volume of your hair.

  • From the strong and long nails of pregnancy you will pass to brittle nails.

Changes yes, but are they not worth it?
